Shaolin Kung Fu Centers

Shaolin Kung Fu Centers was founded by Sigung Maury back in 1990 when the first school was opened in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The purpose to opening the school was to share and spread the teachings of traditional kung fu and to help the members of the community to learn control - physically, mentally, and emotionally, while building better health, greater strength and personal excellence in their everyday life.

There are many benefits to the study of kung fu and many schools of thought. The Shaolin Kung Fu Centers purpose for kung fu training is to teach the elements of control so that peace can be found within, along with a sense of purpose in life.

The secret to a dignified peace is found in control brought about by serious practice, experience, human philosophy, and mental, physical, and spiritual development and maturity.” – Chan Poi

How can one accomplish this sense of control through the practice of Kung Fu?
Shaolin Kung Fu Centers uses the science of traditional kung fu forms training as the vehicle to obtain total control. The forms lead our body through prearranged movements that were created thousands of years ago. These forms teach kung fu students how to control the body to move and react. These forms also sharpen mental focus and concentration. Developing mental focus and concentration will increase perseverance and understanding. Through the understanding of these forms comes a broader way of thinking. When the movements can be physically performed and the mind understands the movements, techniques (movements with understanding, purpose and intent) can be applied to any self defense situation.

The journey itself of learning traditional kung fu forms includes a long list of valuable lessons, too numerous to list, and ultimately leads to the greatest achievement of all “control” – Mastery of Oneself.

The Shaolin Kung Fu Centers is accepting students, who share in this philosophy, in multiple school locations to begin the journey and experience true, traditional kung fu training.
